A sketch-book of pages

starts with a plain white paper..

some scribbles, some squibbles..
with sketchpens and crayons,
with pencils and ink..
we paint with colors and shines,
we write with waters and wines..
every touch leaving a mark.
some beautiful, some cute,
some not so much.
some reckless creases, some unpleasant folds..
and then follows the attempt to iron them out,
with a naive hope to make it all go.
only to realize that they are there to stay.
if only the paper came with a reset switch.
a fold on paper is never to go,
the bonds that break are never to make..
oh well! its not all gone,
but the more we try the worse it gets.
only trick is to let go,
let the wrinkles bury in new glaze and tone..
-------

but some of those folds grow so fierce,
the creases now turn to cuts and tears,
a mad little hope tries to patch and repair..
but sometimes its right to rip off with no fear

if only it was just a single sheet,
the fear i speak is pulling out a page,
might leave others on loose,
and thats the complication and hence the book..
so sometimes all we can do is turn over
to new pages hoping never to return..

<disclaimer, disclaimer!! writing in this form just makes it easy to read, nothing more. bhavanao ko samjho>

Beautiful! I have always loved your 'a fold on a paper' analogy.
Keep writing :)

Lovely idea indeed.
I sometimes dream of tearing certain creased pages out of my sketch book and turning them into papier-mâché crafts - nothing more soothing to the ego that likes to thrash and to display. Ah well - 'letting the wrinkles bury in new glaze and tone' is certainly a calmer approach to follow. Peace be unto you >:)<

aha gayatri! perfect.. the 'to be continued' lines are now added (without more editing). that should explain the title

sorry i should've completed before posting it but just wasn't in the right frame of mind, read depressed/angry enough, to think about tearing out pages. ti phase either geli lahanpanich kinva ajun ali nahiye..

the first part of what i wanted to write was of chote gile-shikve here and there and their irreversibility..
like a toy, once you take it out from the plastic wrap and a first speck of dust touches it, its gone.. (rip off of dhanusyatun nighalela baaN ani toNDatun nighalela shabda ani gmail madhun nighaleli mail analogy :P)

The short term hope is indeed to turn over and never to return.. but the true hope is perhaps that reader may not enjoy those pages but understands them and their role in making the other pages dog eared...
